ITALIAN COMMUNITY IN GENEVA

I was asked to write an article for an Italian monthly journal ” Il Giornale Italiano” which is published in Geneva. I decided to revise my article about Swiss education which was now published in the April issue. I was very grateful for this opportunity as the Italian community is very important to me.
Even if I have an Italian surname received from my husband, I am a proud Czech girl. BUT Italy has a significant role in my life and I am very happy to be part of the Italian community here in Geneva.
But how is this community?
Firstly, I did my research on the internet and found out that the Italians are the second biggest foreign nationality in the Canton of Geneva! Right after the Portuguese.
About 25 thousand people, who came from “Bel paese”, are actually living here.
But why have so many people decided to come here? Well, from what I read on the Italian Facebook groups, I would say the main reasons are a better standard of living, obviously high salaries, new experience and also the fact that Italy is quite close.
If you are going to move here and you speak Italian, do not hesitate to join one of these groups. Besides discovering all the real Italian “ristorante” in the area, you will also find out a lot of interesting information related to life in Geneva!
Have a nice day to all! And especially “un bacione” to my Italians!
Yours,
Jana
